Racing2017 Racing News and ReportsStokes stokes the fire

TT Results for 8th June 2017

15 foolhardy riders came out last night to try the resurfaced-in-places 11.2 mile course. The concern about loose chippings were unfounded although there was a lot of mumbling that the holes were better because at least you could see them. The night was destined to have a low turnout due to the very windy conditions making PB's an unlikely prospect. We had 4 guests, a gorgeous new helper (Nicky) and a very happy mascot in Austin (Andrew Knowles gorgeous flat haired retriever) who was completely bonkers but lovely. Mandy finally (after 3 years of persuading) managed to get her sister out to help and she had a lovely time shouting the boys home like a fishwife!

Outfit of the day went to Simon Richardson who turned up in a woolly ensemble, we were all relieved the rain held off because no one was sure if there would be shrinkage or stretching.... He did however come out on his Single Speed, proceeded to snap the chain and spend 30 minutes trying to find a teeny tiny chain pin only to eventuallly discover his wheel was on it...  Chain was fixed with the help of John, Michael and Nathan so Simon did get to go to the ball.

Kevin Stokes took the win tonight on a very reasonable time of 27:07 considering the wind was against you all the way. Leon thought he'd got a puncture at one point but realised it was the wind blowing his bike away from him.

It was lovely to see Dave Richards who came out to say hello after his horrible accident a few weeks ago. He is still unsure about riding the TT but has been back out on his bike which is the main thing. Neil Washington from My Pinnacle Nutrition also came along to see if anyone wanted to buy any vitamins or supplements and will come along every few weeks as an opportunity for those wanting to stock up.

See you all next week!

P.S.

Remember that the Ashman Trophy (2 x Abbotsley) takes place on 16th July (this trophy dates back to 1938) and to be eligible you need to have taken part in at least 2 TTs this season. Points on the day towards the Handicap Trophy as well.

TT Results

As mentioned above Kevin Stokes took the honours on the evening with his time of 27:07 followed by David and Simon in second and third place.

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for all number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 15 riders and 10 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it.

A handicap time > 25 minutes shows how much you missed your PB by. To be in contention for points you need to ride close to your PB or improve on it.

Congratulations to Dave for securing the maximum points on the night.
