2014 TT Handicap Points Winner

Following the running of the Ashman on Sunday 7th December we are now in a position to confirm the winner of the 2014 TT Handicap trophy. Points towards this Trophy are based on the 18 Thursday evenings during the season plus the Ashman.

As the Ashman had to be delayed until December we could not confirm the winner until now. As you will see from the table below the TT Handicap Trophy for 2014 has been won by Martin Kirby in his first season with the Club with a total of 164 points.

Ashman - The Magnificent Seven defy the cold

Ashman trophy report - Sunday 7th December

A 22.4 mile TT in the first week of December was only going to attract the most dedicated of riders and so it was that the Magnificent Seven duly turned up to contest the delayed 2014 Ashman Handicap Trophy and Ashman Fastest Time Trophy.

Finucane retains Hill Climb title

SNCC Hill Climb 12th October

The second Sunday of October and you can guarantee rain. It’s the club hill climb and every year there is an autumn low blowing in the damp dregs of another Atlantic weather front. Except this year there wasn’t. Sunday dawned dry with just a trace of early morning mists over the Moor and not even Mr Preston’s name on the 19 strong start sheet could bring on a localised cloud burst.

TT Cancelled - 28th August

Mandy loves timekeeping

Below is a copy of the note about the cancellation of the TT on the 28th and also a copy of Mandy's response !!

Two sets of traffic lights on the course = cancellation of tomorrow's TT .

This is regrettable given that it would have been the final TT of the 2014 season and we now have to wait another 35 weeks for the start of the 2015 TT season.

Woods & Pillinger lead the way

TT Results - 14th August 2014

14 riders for the 3rd to last TT of the 2014 season and we were joined by two regular guests in Neil Wood and Andrew Knowles and two first time guests in Richard Leech and Becky Layland (sister of club member Michael). Once again we had to use the shortened course and the riders were led home by Neil Wood in a time of 25.56 followed by Nic Pillinger on 26.20 and Simon Richardson on 27.55.

Turner & Gerrard take the honours

TT Results 7th August 2014

There were 17 riders this evening out to test themselves against the clock on the shortened course and it was good to see some “old faces” back in the fray in Ian Turner and Darren Preston.

Also Terry Davies after his first ever TT on 31st July was back again to push himself and also improved his time. Ian Gerrard whose last TT was in 2013 and who normally prefers the audax distances joined us and promises to be back again this season.

The Azzurri do the double

Taverna and Nibali: SNCC TT (31 Aug 2014) and TdF.

It was a warm and calm evening on the shortened Abbotsley course with a small but gorgeous group of 14 riders. Tonight saw the welcome return of Adriano Taverna who gave the fast boys a run for their money and took the spoils as the fastest on the night.

Stokes takes the honours

TT results 24th July 2014

Once again, the traffic lights through Abbotsley prevented us from running the normal 11.2 miles TT this evening. We started the TT after the last house as you leave Abbotsley on the way to St Neots and finished the TT shortly after the church at the left hand turn to Waresley as you descend the hill.

There were only 13 riders this evening including Kevin Stokes (guest) who went under 27 minutes followed by Simon Richardson and Geoff Smith who maintained their form from the previous week both being under 28 minutes again.
