Pillinger's PB wins it...

The 25 riders who were at the start line for the eighth SNCC TT of the season were pleased to see that the conditions were much more favourable than the previous week. The only possible blight on the evening was the strong wind especially up to the golf course turn which would make any PB hard earned on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.

Nic Pillinger and Simon Elkington rode the conditions very well to deliver the only two PB’s of the evening and as you will see Nic is edging ever closer to that sub 25 minute time and we wish you well to deliver that soon.

Good to see Steve Owens making his 2017 debut and also Ian Stokes was telling us that he has been a guest rider at our TT since 2007 along with his brother Kevin.

So far this year 43 club members have taken part in the TT and we would invite any club member who is interested to come along and give the TT a try. As well as testing yourself on the course it is a very sociable evening pre and post event and of course Mandy’s wonderful home cooking is worth the trip on it’s own.

It is very easy to forget that without Mandy , Colin and John we would not be able to hold our TT and it is their ongoing dedication and commitment every Thursday evening that allows us to enjoy the TT.

Next TT – Thursday 22nd June: Sign on 7pm (at the latest) for a 7.15pm start

P.S.

Remember that the Ashman Trophy (2 x Abbotsley) takes place on 16th July (this trophy dates back to 1938) and to be eligible you need to have taken part in at least 2 TTs this season. Points on the day towards the Handicap Trophy as well.

TT Results

As mentioned above Nic took the honours on the evening with his time of 25:05 followed by Sam and Darren in second and third place.

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for all number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 25 riders and 20 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it.

A handicap time > 25 minutes shows how much you missed your PB by. To be in contention for points you need to ride close to your PB or improve on it.

Congratulations to Nic for taking the maximum points on the evening by taking 10 seconds from his PB followed by Simon who took a further 3 seconds from his PB.

Handicap Trophy

The destiny of the 2017 Handicap Trophy remains a close run thing at the moment with Nic and Simon trading PB’s on a regular basis to keep them ahead of the chasing pack. With 10 TT’s still to go this year it can all change.
