TT Results - 18th July 2013

Thursday was a superb evening for the St Neots CC Time Trial with 22 riders out to test themselves on the challenging 11.2 mile sporting course. Richard Hancock, fresh from his triumph at the Club’s Ashman Trophy event the previous Saturday, turned in the fastest TT of the season with a superb 25.22

There were another 9 PBs, notably from Alan Reeves taking three minutes off his previous time (as he said this time he did not get lost), Lewis Mooney and our newest member, Rachael Crockford.

Richard’s time of 25.22 is the second fastest ever on this course , well done

It was very good to see some of the old guard returning this evening with Tim Pennell , David Lindsay and Geoff Smith all turning in PBs. Gareth Smith continues to improve on his PB and as noted below he is now a contender for the Handicap Trophy.

The lantern rouge was Joanna Fitzsimons who also managed a PB

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Non-members are welcome to “Come and Try”

Handicap Trophy

There were 22 points on offer this evening, one of the highest for the past few weeks and with these points on offer the opportunity for someone to disrupt the leaderboard. Alan Reeves took 22 points followed by Joanna and Rachael. Of the potential contenders for the Trophy, Chris Goodsall secured a very useful 19 points with his PB and Gareth Smith secured 15 points to take him into second place with his 2 consecutive weeks of PBs. If he can maintain this form for the remaining 6 events then he will be very close on Jon Keefe’s wheel despite the current 25 point gap.

Simon Richardson is quietly building his points tally as is Andy Holt and a couple more PBs from them on a good points night and they will also be worrying the current leaders.

As has been said before the contest may yet be decided by who misses a couple of TTs by going on holiday. Anyway good luck to all contenders over the remaining 6 weeks.
