25 riders rode out on the Abbotsley circuit this evening for the 3rd to last TT of the season. We did not repeat the “gold rush” of last week's 12 Personal Bests, however 4 riders did manage to spin the pedals well enough to record another 4 PBs.
Jane Stapleton took another 7 seconds off her time, Geoff Smith found another 14 seconds, Andrew Poodle another second and Steve Muchmore (on his new bike for the first time) cracked the 32 minute barrier with an excellent 31.21. As he said, he should have bought it earlier in the season. Very good to see yet another 16 year old, Morgan Bacon, try the TT, and delighted to see Jon Keefe out for his first TT.
Richard Hancock was under 26 minutes with a 25.58 (26.31 mph) to lead the field home with Ian Turner not that far behind with 26.24.
It would be good to see as many riders out as possible over the next 2 weeks and certainly try and be there for the 30th of August for the season’s finale.
NB: Start time for the 23rd August TT is 7 pm with sign-on from 6.45
|21||Morgan Bacon||36.15||1st TT|
|24||Jon Keefe||37.05||1st TT|
Handicap Trophy Update
With only 2 TTs left before the end of the season, Steve Pleasance continues to lead and stretched his lead over Rob Black by another 4 points. Rob lost some ground after last weeks PB although still remains in contention. Jonathan Pang remains “Mr Consistent” and picked up 14 points. However with Steve continuing to deliver around his PB time, he picked up 15 points to stretch his lead over Jonathan.
The end of the season may come too quickly for Jane Stapleton who picked up 17 points after last week’s 19 points and there is now probably too much ground for her to make up on the leaders. However, it would be foolish to write her off just yet. Steve Muchmore and Adrian Lewis may also have left their assault on the Trophy a little late for this season but let’s see what transpires over the next two races.
