A cold evening with gusty winds in excess of 20 mph coming in from the South West made the race very hard with the road into Gamlingay being tortuous. This was reflected in nearly all the times with most riders failing to break the 30 minute barrier.

Richard Ostler opened with a very credible time of 29.46 while returning St Neots member Richard Hancock and former course record holder seemed to ride unaffected by the hilly terrain and windy conditions to post a time of 26.36 at an average speed of of over 25 mph.

Other notables were Wayne Tunnah , David Lindsay , Steve Blows and Adrian Taverna who will all expect to improve significantly throughout the season as we start to enjoy the warmer evenings.

It was very good to see so many new riders for the event with 16 in the field.

The Lantern Rouge was taken by Leon Bradford who has ridden this event for many years and will be looking to gain time on his rivals as the season progresses.
