The Final ... TT#15 Race Results …
So, with Nick and Simon M tied in first place and Tina and Justin tied in third, the scene was set for a podium showdown.
As we edged closer to the last sign-on deadline at 18:30, there was no sign of Nick – surely he wasn’t going to be a no-show? With seconds to spare, he appeared, so the drama could wait until later. 5 minutes later, Simon Winter rolled up – ho hum!
The weather was benign, pleasantly warm with light winds, but the meteorologists informed me that it wasn’t a fast night.
First man back was guest rider Stephen Douglas, who’s become an Abbo regular, followed by Sam – not a “fast night”, but still sub 24 mins – I’d take that any day. Then the podium battle started to unfold with Nick closely followed by Simon M – not clear at this stage who would come out on top in the handicap battle – one for the mathematicians. Following suit, Tina and Justin finished in quick succession.
Next up was Frances, now with Peterborough CC, making a final visit to the Abbo course, then Dom Whitehead, Mark Greenhow and Norman, all fighting their own personal battles, with Simon W bringing up the rear (trainers thankfully left at home this time).
Timekeeper, Mike, retired to the sanctuary of his car to do the hard sums and it transpired that Nick had taken maximum points, thereby sealing the 2024 handicap trophy, leaving Simon M in second place. In the domestic battle between Tina and Justin, Tina bagged the bragging rights.
So the podium for The Leon Bradford 2024 TT handicap competition looks like:
1st Nick Green 56 points
2nd Simon Murphy 53 points
3rd Tina Dankwart 32 points
Well done to everyone who tackled the Abbo course this year and to the helpers who enabled the racing to take place. It’s unlikely that the Abbo course will be available to ride next year … but that’s what we said this time last year.

TT#15 Handicap Points Table...
The Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members and First Time LTS/PB races. So tonight 11 riders and 8 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB. This year the handicap PB is based on the best time in the last three seasons (LTS - 2021-2023/2024) and not a riders life time best as in previous years.
Congratulations to Nick Green for taking the maximum points on offer tonight and the 2024 H/C Title.
