19 at the TT last Thursday and welcome to a couple of “first timers” – Phil Laycock and Andrew Poodle – and welcome back to Andrew Kluth for his first TT of this season.

Chris Ritchie was making a return as a guest and there was a first time appearance for Ian Turner also as a guest.  The conditions were the most temperate for a number of weeks and were verging on the balmy. Expectations were high for some good performances and the results did not disappoint.

Richard Hancock despite delivering a 25.43 was eased out of first position by Ian Turner who came in one second quicker at 25.42, the first time Richard has not finished first this year.

Tim Pennell delivered a PB with a time of 27.46 and was within 5 metres at the finish of catching his minute man , Tom Stead who almost had a PB with a 28.45. Steve Rodley continued his inexorable momentum towards sub-30, and this was his night, posting a  29.55, his sixth successive week of improvement and earning more valuable points towards the Handicap Trophy. Rob Black has now taken over two minutes off his season’s opening time with a 35.25 PB. Steve Pleasance and Ruth Stapleton added to the list of PBs for the evening with 32.32 and 35.27 respectively .

The number of PBs has kept the Handicapper for the Ashman Trophy this Sunday busy overnight. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Sunday to settle the destination of the Ashman Trophy.

Handicap Points Update – 5th July

PB’s from Steve Rodley , Steve Pleasance and Rob Black helped all three continue their bid for the 2012 Handicap trophy picking up 14, 11 and 13 points respectively on the night.

Jonathan Pang, although losing some ground, continues to head the leaderboard. Tim Pennell took 15 points with his PB and must now be considered an outsider for the competition if he can maintain this form.

The test for all the contenders is now to maintain and improve on these times and we also have the holiday season approaching so with a few missed nights a rider's the momentum could evaporate.

However  this competition remains wide open and will almost certainly not be determined until the end of the season.
