There could not have been more of a contrast between the weather tonight and that of last week. The balmy conditions of a week ago were replaced with constant heavy rain and it did not relent at any time for the 17 riders who contested tonight’s TT.

Hats off to all who turned up and despite the conditions there were 4 PBs so it just shows that the adverse conditions can work in your favour. As someone commented “if it was not for the rain, it was an ideal night to race as not too cold and hardly any wind”.

Well done to Adrian Taverna, Adrian Bloxham, Adrian Lewis and Rob Black ( a good night for the Adrians!) who all turned in PBs with AT leading this group with a 34 second improvement.

Special thanks to Dave Stead (Tom’s Dad) who volunteered to “push off” the riders in John’s absence and to Chris Gosling who helped with the timing tonight.

Tim Pennell took the honours with a 28.15 and the lantern rouge was Ruth Stapleton.

Handicap Trophy Update


The winner this year will likely come from the Top 6 with a spread of only 12 points separating them after tonight. Steve Rodley is not available for the last 3 TT’s so effectively it should be a sprint finish between Steve Pleasance, Jonathan, Adrian Taverna, Wayne and Rob.

Steve lost some ground this evening. However, with their respective PB’s, Rob and Adrian are well placed to be in contention on 23rd August. Jonathan continues to stay in the mix with 9 handicap points and Wayne equalled his PB tonight to keep in the hunt with 13 handicap points.
