Preston beats the wind

TT Results 13th June 2013

There were 18 riders this evening with Yvonne Cosbie making her TT debut and the field led home by Darren Preston, followed by “Mr Consistency” Adrian Taverna in second place. The wind and the weather had clearly deterred a few riders and with a strong south westerly the first 3 miles were into the wind making the climb up to the first turn a challenge.

Despite the wind, five riders were under 30 minutes with new rider Philip Odell from Beds Road CC turning in a 29.38. Rising star Dan Baxter continues to improve taking almost 3 minutes from his season’s opening time and congratulations also to Chris Goodsall on his PB tonight.

Leon Bradford at a mere 72 years of age continues to defy his age to deliver on the challenging 11.2 mile sportive course.

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Non members are welcome to “Come and Try”

Handicap Trophy

There were 14 points on offer this evening, with Chris Goodsall picking up the maximum followed by Dan Baxter and Darren Preston with 13 and 12 points respectively. Jon Keefe continues to lead the field, however Adrian Taverna is making up ground and by keeping close to his PB time on most evenings he is always in the points.
