What a beautiful Sunday morning for a Time Trial with warm weather and relatively light wind. There was a bit of confusion caused when the car park hadn't been opened, so after a rushed transfer to the Golf Course for sign on, a small field of 13 riders lined up for the start, setting off at minute intervals.
St Neots' own Simon Richardson was first off and the first back, setting the benchmark at 28:24. That time was toppled a few riders later by Ade Taverna, still keeping St Neots in the lead. The next few riders couldn't touch Ade's time, but the last four riders to go were expected to be fast and they didn't disappoint. Hugo Hocknell (Team Salesengine.co.uk) smashed Ade's time with a sub-27 minute ride, but Richard Hancock wasn't going to stand for that going over a minute faster with 25:51. It was enough to hold off Team Swift's Andre Dyason for Richard to make 2nd place, but the clear victor was Cambridge's David McGraw. With a time of 24:46 he had set a new course record for the Abbotsley circuit by seven seconds. Something for you all to aim for on a Thursday evening...
Well done to everyone who raced, and thanks to the marshals and timekeepers.
