TT Results 7th August 2014
There were 17 riders this evening out to test themselves against the clock on the shortened course and it was good to see some “old faces” back in the fray in Ian Turner and Darren Preston.
Also Terry Davies after his first ever TT on 31st July was back again to push himself and also improved his time. Ian Gerrard whose last TT was in 2013 and who normally prefers the audax distances joined us and promises to be back again this season.
Olly Worsford was a first timer this evening, posting a respectable time and did not realise just how much fun the TT was ( they were not his exact words but the website moderator would not allow what he really said !!) and also says that he will be back for more.
Ian Turner took the honours this evening with a 24.31 followed by Adrian Taverna on 26.33 followed by Darren Preston on 27.12. Ian’s PB on the full course is 25.15 and with only a quarter of a mile difference between the two courses no doubt he would have been comfortably under his PB had it been the full course.
Simon Richardson was unfortunate in being caught behind a tractor at one point on the course and this definitely cost him time on the night.
Good to see Mark Greenhow, Paul Littledyke, Terry Davies, Alistair Henderson, George Lendrum, Leon Bradford and David Spoors all improve their times over the shortened course.
Handicap Trophy
We have reworked the Handicap Table to allow for using the shortened course and the revised table is below.
Since 10th July we have been reporting the handicap results based on PB achieved on the full course and does not therefore take into account any improvement in times over the shortened course.
For the results from 17th July, 24th July, 31st July and 7th August we have taken the actual time on the night and if an improvement has been achieved then this is the new handicap time and it has been applied. Times on the shortened course will not stand as PBs, however to maintain the competitive element for the 2014 Handicap Trophy it has been agreed that this system is more equitable for all the riders.
Ian Gerrard took the maximum points on the night as we had to use his PB from 2013 as this was his first PB of the 2014 season followed by Ian Turner and Terry Davies.
Martin Kirby retains the lead despite his absence for holiday. Mark Greenhow picked up some useful points to keep him in contention and Simon Richardson will be cursing the tractor as he was only able to secure one point as he continues to chase Martin for the trophy.
14th August 2014 – Please Note the Change to the Start Time
This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at the latest at 6.45pm for a 7.00 pm start. Non-members are welcome to “Come and Try.
