St Neots CC Time Trial results for 23rd June 2016

First of all, chapeau to all 16 riders who braved the elements on Thursday to take part in the TT. Certainly at 6pm when the heavens were sending down torrents of rain, the prospects for the TT looked grim. However, although low cloud and rain and thunder in the air we decided to go ahead. The reward was that by 7pm the rain had abated and with minimal wind the conditions were almost ideal for an evening’s racing.

Leading the way home tonight was Nic Pillinger with a 26:04 followed by Simon Rinaldo (PB) in 26:33 and David Lindsay third fastest in 27:09.

There were two PBs on the night from Simon Rinaldo and Gareth Smith, improving their PBs by 14 and 13 seconds respectively. This was Gareth’s second PB in successive weeks.

Jon Sheasby was on his mountain bike this evening and posted a very creditable 31:21 at the same time complaining that the course did not have enough hills on it!

Cake and hot drinks supplied by Mandy were very welcome at the end and once again our thanks to Mandy, Colin and John for their timekeeping duties which allow the rest of us to race. Also thanks to Dave Richards who has been helping with the setting and collection of the safety signs around the course pre and post racing for the past few weeks.

So far this season 44 members have taken part in the TT and with 148 current members we would encourage anyone who has not tried the TT to come along on a Thursday evening and enjoy!.

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at the latest at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start. Non-members are welcome to "Come and Try".

Ashman Handicap Trophy: Sunday 10^th July

A date for your diaries to compete for the oldest trophy in the Club dating back to 1938. The Ashman is two circuits of the Abbotsley course (22.4 miles) and is open to all Club members who have posted at least two times in the 2016 season.

In addition to the Handicap Trophy there is also a Trophy for the fastest time for the two circuits.

14 points were on offer (Guests & First Timers do not count) this evening with Simon taking the maximum points followed by Gareth and Roger.

Although not riding this evening, Sam MacDonald continues as the leader for the 2016 Handicap Trophy with a lead of 26 points over Keith Barton with the next 6 riders in contention only separated by 9 points. The destination of the trophy remains wide open.
