Hiner fastest on shortened course

Results for St Neots CC Time Trial 28th July 2016

Unlike last year when we were blighted by the dreaded traffic lights appearing at different points around our course almost every week, tonight was the first time in 2016. The start was approximately half way up the first slope from the usual start and the finish was at the small bridge on the closing straight.

So with the course shortened there could be no PBs this evening. However there were plenty of points up for grabs towards the 2016 Handicap Trophy. Despite mild protests from some riders you are not able to extrapolate your time as if it was the full course and claim a PB!

25 riders were at the start line and fastest time this evening belonged to Karl Hiner delivering a 25:41 followed by Keith Barton with a 25:51 and Sam MacDonald with a 26:37

Good to see the Stapleton sisters (Ruth and Jane Kinnaird) renewing their sibling rivalry for the first time since 2013.

Average time for the 25 riders who finished was 29:23

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at the latest at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm start. Non-members are welcome to "Come and Try".

With 21 points on offer (guests do not count) the maximum points were taken by young Daniel Biggs who clearly relished the conditions and the shorter course followed by Ruth Stapleton and the continually improving Stephen Lyons in second and third place.

Handicap Results – Total

With 14 TTs completed plus the Ashman Trophy and with 4 TTs to go the race for the 2016 Handicap Trophy continues.

Keith Barton clawed back seven points from Sam’s previous lead of 29 points to reduce the gap to 22 points. It is likely that the destination of the 2016 Trophy will not be known until the last TT on 25^th August.
