Elkington WINS 2017 Handicap Trophy - Witchel goes sub-25

N.B Next TT – Thursday 31^st August: Sign on 6.45 (at the latest) for a 7.00 pm start - let’s have a good turnout for the last TT as it is a long time until April 2018.

The penultimate TT of the 2017 season was enjoyed by 25 riders gathering at the start line on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.

Good to see young Ryan back this week and also congratulations on posting a sub-25 minute time. Also good to hear the Irish brogue of Stephen Lyons on his first TT of 2017 and also after a gap of six weeks the return of Mark Greenhow to the fray.

Following Ryan home in second place and fastest SNCC rider was Nic after a four week absence and third was David Lindsay with his second fastest time of the season.

Only two PB’s this evening from Paul (second in a row) and the ever consistent Simon Elkington who managed to take another second from his previous PB to post his 12^th PB of the season.

From an opening time of 30:53 back on 27^th April Simon now has a PB of 27:53 an improvement of 3 minutes over the course of the season and his constant improvement and consistency means that he has won the 2017 Handicap Trophy a week before the last TT of the season. Congratulations to Simon on winning the Trophy for the first time.

Usual order was restored this evening with the return of Mandy and of course tea, coffee and delicious cake back for the post event debrief of times and performance.

Average time on the night was 30:25 and average number at the TT’s is 21 for the season with over 60 riders taking part so far in 2017.

Riders are reminded about the rule on drafting: “In the spirit of the sport, caught riders should not disturb the performance of the rider catching them by repassing and/or riding closely behind them, except when they can sustain that move. This is generally considered to mean that the caught rider should allow a reasonable gap to develop of some 30 to 50 yards/metres”

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 25 riders and 20 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it.

A handicap time > 25 minutes shows how much you missed your PB by. To be in contention for points you need to ride close to your PB or improve on it.
