3 PBs and another sub 25 minute time

Yet another wonderful evening for the 25 riders at the start line for the 10th SNCC TT of the season.

We welcomed 7 Guest riders including former member Darren Preston and two club members making their TT debuts – Gareth Mount and young Tom Stokes from the men’s road race team.

Fastest home this evening was young Ryan Witchell with his best time in 2018 and also a PB followed by Nic as the fastest club member with Tom in third spot delivering an excellent 25:51 on his Abbotsley debut.

3 PBs this evening to follow the 5 from last week and congratulations to Dave Richards , Simon Murphy and Jim Robertson for finding 13 , 8 and 3 seconds respectively to improve their PB’s. Special “chapeau” to Dave Richards who at 71 years is still competitive and also competing for the Club in the inter-club TT series.

Average time this evening was 29:38 and to date 44 members have taken part this season. We would encourage more members to join us on a Thursday evening.

Reminder that the Ashman Trophy will be contested on Sunday 15th July and is two laps of the course. Your handicap after the 12th July TT will be doubled for the Ashman for the 22.4 mile course and usually to be in contention to win this trophy dating back to 1938 one of the laps is usually a PB ( the second lap tends to be quicker with the flying start , however not always). Basically any of the riders are capable of winning this handicap event. There is also a trophy for the Fastest Time and note that this is a closed event for members only. Make a note in your diary to be there for the 10am start.

Finally the current course record is held by James Tucker who turned in a 23:32 in June 2017 and not as reported last week by Toby Atkins.

Next TT – Thursday 12th July – Sign on by 7.00 and Start at 7.15 pm

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 25 riders and 16 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2018 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Congratulations to “young” Dave Richards for securing the maximum points on offer this evening.

Handicap Trophy – 2018 – Running Total

At just over the half way stage in the race for the 2018 Handicap Trophy the current top 5 are forcing the pace and trying to draw away form the chasing pack. Simon Elkington continues to hold form and first place, however Simon Murphy, Norman King and Jim Roberston are all well placed and remain in contention. Pat Ellerbeck lost some ground this evening due to his absence.

Another 8 TT’s plus the Ashman Trophy on 15th July with many points still on offer this season.
