One PB and the Handicap Trophy goes down to the wire
The penultimate SNCC TT of 2018 attracted 26 riders to the start line including 4 guests on overcast and blustery evening which produced only 1 PB on the evening.
That honour went to Martin Bond who was determined to restore his bragging rights over his son Richard who had posted a faster time than his father the previous week. Martin seemed to be the only rider to relish the conditions and found another 15 seconds to record a PB of 30:08.
Welcome back to Kyle Chesterman on his first ride this season and unfortunately he was a DNF
The final turn into a strong headwind probably resulted in a few riders missing out on a PB.
Ryan Witchell, one of our regular guests, posted a 25:25 to be the quickest home this evening followed by our own Tom Stead and Simon Elkington in third spot.
As you can see from the Handicap Table the race for the 2018 Handicap Trophy will go down to the final TT of the season next week and it would be good to have as many riders attending to make sure that there are plenty of points on offer as the two Simon’s contest for the trophy.
Average time this evening was 30:42 (the best average time over the past 4 weeks) and to date 52 members have taken part this season.

Handicap Results
Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 26 riders and 22 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.
To be in contention to win the 2018 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Handicap Trophy – 2018 – Running Total
Simon Murphy took 4 points from Simon E’s lead of 9.5 points to reduce the deficit to 5.5 points meaning that the final TT on the 30th August will decide the destination of the trophy.
Certainly the closest contest for a number of years and good luck to both Simons for the 30th.
