Excellent conditions and 8 PB’s

29 riders to push themselves against the challenging 11.2-mile SNCC TT course at Abbotsley this evening.

The riders were greeted with almost perfect riding conditions and knowing that the wind would be on our backs for at least half the course distance. The portents were excellent to add the tally of PBs already this season and so it transpired with 8 riders setting PBs.

Tonight we welcomed another first timer from the club , Adam Hutchison , an old friend and guest rider , Michael Hoy, and a new guest in Mark Redwood. Good to see Simon Richardson back in the saddle this week making his 2019 debut after helping with the time-keeping for the past few weeks.

Mark was the fastest home this evening posting an excellent 25:32 for his first time on the course. Fastest club member was Simon Elkington with another PB followed by Mark Greenhow who was only one second from his PB in third place.

8 PB’s this evening and congratulations to Matt C , Richard R , Simon M , Richard B , Norman Matt G and Simon E and Pat .

Also, further congratulations to Matt C , Richard R and Richard B for posting their first sub 30-minute TT.

In the Bond family Martin (father) has held the bragging rights over son Richard with a better PB and next week he will have to get used to Richard setting off behind him for the first time

Average time was 29:57 which is unusual for this early in the season.

Housekeeping : Reminder that the CTT levy increased to £3/TT for 2019 and a request that once the first riders have lined up for the start that other riders do not ride past the start line as part of their warm up.

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 29 riders and 24 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2019 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Congratulations to Matt Charter for taking the maximum points this week and for taking almost 2 minutes from the PB he set the previous week.

Simon Murphy after 5 TT’s has now opened up a gap on the other Simon and it will only take one of them to miss a TT for that position to change again. Pat and Norman lead the chasing peleton and watch out for the two Matt’s in fifth and sixth spot who if they maintain their current momentum in terms of improving PB’s will be in contention by the end of the season.

18 TT’s plus the Ashman means that there are very more points up for offer for this season.
