8 PB’s Tonight plus reminder of Ashman Trophy on Saturday 20th July
A wonderful dry warm evening at the start line for the 29 riders who lined up for the 10th SNNC TT of the 2019 season around the challenging 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.
Fastest home tonight was Richard Hancock , a former member of the club, followed by our own Simon’s – Murphy and Elkington – in second and third spot.
The first 4 riders all delivered sub 26 minute times which included PBs for Simon M and Mark.
Congratulations to Mandy, Tom, Simon M, Richard, Mark, Martin, Ruth and Leon on their respective PB’s tonight.
Well done to Martin and Ruth for going sub 30 minutes for the first time.
The battle of the Bonds continued apace this evening with Richard (son) taking a further twenty three seconds from his PB and Martin (father) reducing his PB by thirteen seconds
Chapeau to Leon who at 77 years of age is still producing PB’s.
Good to see Mick Lawrence and Daniel Grant for their 2019 debut and welcome to Aidan Joy on his first club TT.
As always, our thanks to Mandy, Mike and John for the sign on, timekeeping, pushing off and the signage.
Care warning on the left hand turns on the course. Do avoid crossing the white line when you make those turns. This is for your safety.
Housekeeping : Reminder that the CTT levy increased to £3/TT for 2019 and a request that once the first riders have lined up for the start that other riders do not ride past the start line as part of their warm up.
Ashman Trophy : This trophy dates back to 1938 and has been competed for almost every year for the past 81 years. It is awarded to the rider with the best net handicap time for 2 laps of the 11.2 course at Abbotsley. To compete you must have taken part in at least 2 club TT’s this season. Any rider has the potential to win and very often a PB on one of the laps will certainly put you in contention for a place. In addition, there is a trophy for the fastest time for the two laps. Note that this event is on a Saturday morning.
Next TT – Thursday 11th July – Sign on by 7.00 and Start at 7.15 pm

Handicap Results
Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 29 riders and 23 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.
To be in contention to win the 2019 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.
Congratulations to Mandy for taking the maximum 23 points this evening and finding another 24 seconds for his PB and first sub 30 minute TT

Handicap Trophy – 2019 – Running Total
The destination of the 2019 Handicap Trophy remains unknown with 7 TT’s and the Ashman trophy left to provide many more points. Simon M has increased his lead slightly over Simon E , however watch out for a late run to the finish from Richard Bond who is delivering a strong set of results and could be in contention.
