Robertson, Hodgson and McDonald share the Trophies for 2020

Three Club trophies were contested this morning and the results were as follows:

Ashman Trophy 2020 – Fastest

First we would like to congratulate all the winners of the above trophies and also all the Club members who have supported the TT this season and who have complied and respected the new set of rules we were required to adopt to ensure that we could race in the first instance and secondly stay safe at the same time. 30 riders took part this year including 7 guests.

Secondly, we wish to thank those members of the Club who actually made the TT’s happen this season. At the start of the lockdown period the prospect of holding any TT’s was slim and to have held 5 events (albeit the rain did postpone one of them) is testament to the efforts of (in no particular order) Simon Richardson, Mike Biggs, Gary Adnitt. Norman King, Mandy McEvoy, Martin Bond, Davey Jones and Alistair Henderson.

NEXT TT – April 2021 – Will we have a course to ride will depend on progress with the new A428 and if we are blocked then we will find an alternative. Only 36 weeks to wait! Have a good winter of training and see you all at the start line next April.

Results

Following the postponement of the TT on the 27^th we agreed to carry this over as Lap 1 of the Ashman and the results for Lap 1 are below. Fastest on this lap was Sam followed by Simon M and Jamie. 4 PB’s were picked up Gareth, Mandy, David and Roger with Gareth finding 37 seconds, Mandy 27 seconds, David 25 seconds and Roger 19 seconds. Congratulations to Gareth for his first sub 30 minutes and belated well done to Roger who was sub 30 minutes as well on his TT debut on 20^th August. Points earned for Lap 1 counted towards the Handicap Trophy are shown with Gareth picking up the maximum points on the day.

Ashman Results

A number of riders elected not to do the second lap and this reduced the field to 14 riders although David and Mandy’s respective handicaps were adjusted following their PB’s from Lap1.

Superb ride by Sam to go under 50 minutes for the two laps with an average speed of almost 27.5 mph followed by Simon M and Jamie. 9 riders were sub 30 minutes for both laps. Sam retains the trophy for the fastest Ashman this year.

Ashman – Handicap Points

Two trophies would be decided based on these results and the first one – The Ashman – was won by David Hodgson by the smallest of margins of one second. A PB on Lap 1 and Lap 2 was only 7 seconds slower which helped contribute to his win. Excellent pacing by Sam as well with only four seconds difference over the two laps.

Handicap Trophy – 2020

The second trophy to be decided based on the Ashman results was the Handicap Trophy for 2020 and congratulations to Jim Robertson for securing the win. He has led the field from the first TT, improved his PB twice and has ridden close to his PB for the other rides.
