Nic and Ruth win Ashman trophies…

We had 10 entries on our 14th race of the season for the Ashman trophy dating back to 1938, with two laps around the Abbotsley 11.2m course. Nic Pillinger was impressively fastest with 24:19 (Lap1) only 5 seconds from his PB and 24:31 (Lap2) …
… giving him 48:50 for the fastest men’s time trophy, beating his previous winning times in 2015/16 by well over 3 minutes and also picking up the Ashman H/C trophy with a 50:24 for the first time. Dom Whitehead was second with a 59:43 and Adam Hutchinson with a 61:41, well done to all on the podium. Ruth Chamberlain picked up the new trophy for fastest woman’s time with a 66:47.
There were no PB’s on the night, although Adam Hutchinson managed to match his PB on Lap1 taking maximum H/C points for Lap1 (Race#14 of the TT series), but could not manage it for Lap2 (not easy!), however still close enough to PB to take second overall in the Ashman H/C trophy with a 50:35 and Ruth Chamberlain picking up third spot with a 52:03, well done to all on Ashman H/C podium.
Dom Whitehead and Mark Halliday were our Guests for the Ashman evening, although Mark recorded a DNS.
Finally, wishing Simon Brick a speedy recovery after his crash on the way home from the Ashman when a spoke snapped and went through the tyre causing him to flip over the handlebars – OUCH!.... his bike seems fine thank goodness!

TT Additional reminders… to help the timekeepers Please.
- All riders to start their timing devices, before they get the 30s warning to start (Most do)
- All riders to shout out their race number when crossing the finishing line (Most do)
TT Housekeeping reminders…
- remember a working Rear AND Front light for 2022 – mandated by CTT
- try not to ride past the start when other riders are starting
- be aware of cars and other riders after you finish
- Timekeepers need to be able to concentrate on giving every rider the correct time, please do not try to see your time until everyone has finished.
- Paying in advance is very helpful for the organisers. Pay for 6 rides (£4 for member, £5 for guest) to 404010 and 80724513 and credit will be carried over for any unused rides.

Handicap Trophy – 2022 (Lap1/TT#14)
The Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 10 riders and 8 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.
To be in contention to win the 2022 Handicap Trophy you need to ride as close to your PB as possible or set some new PB’s over the final weeks.
