Strava BMC 79 Mile Challenge -- 17 November was created by Ch3rryGh0st
Okay, so 79 miles isn't going to represent a challenge for some, but I signed up to this on Strava as a means of motivating myself to get out in the middle of November and put some extra miles in, and I know a few others have done the same. The challenge is to complete a single ride of 79 miles between 16 & 18 November, and more details can be found here:

app.strava.com/challenges/bmc-79-mile-challenge

Myself, Gareth and Trevor have discussed rolling out on 17 November, the Saturday, so we can still join the Sunday club run, with a ready-made excuse for being slow (and that evening's Awards Dinner will provide another!).

There are no firm plans at the moment, but I suspect we'll depart from the usual place around 0900. Similarly, there is no firm route planned, though there are two currently on the table: A variation of the sportive route and Richard's South Cambs hilly route, picking it up near Abbotsley.

If anyone would like to join us, the pace (which is to say *my* pace) will be GP2 level, and I'm happy to plan in a coffee and cake stop somewhere around the midpoint of whichever route we take.

You don't, of course, have to use Strava to come along.

I'll need to see what I'm doing that day, but barring everything else, I'd be up for that.

just a thought on this, how about doing a "return ride" rather than a loop , i.e. get dropped off 80 mile away and ride back ? if interested i have transport for upto perhaps 10 bikes and would prob need 1 other car to drop riders of ?

I like that idea, if we could get the extra transport arranged (I already know what my wife would say if I suggested she get up early to drive 80ish miles out and back).

We'd need to make sure the driver(s) got their petrol money back, too.

Great idea. I'd love to do 80 miles with a screaming tail wind.

Sounds good to me if 'She that must be obeyed' gives me a pass out!!
OR we could ride out 79 miles, have a few beers, then be collected?
;)

Scratch that, looks highly unlikely now unless someone has a trailer
