I hope you're all enjoying the fine Bank Holiday weather and getting the miles in for next weeks 100miler.

There are 2 routes, 100mile and 60mile. Both routes head northwest to Raunds. The routes split at Grafton Underwood, about 25miles in. The short route loops round to Oundle then back. The long route skirts Corby, then heads North to Uppingham. From there it heads South west to Oundle (60 miles).

Routes (I'll try to get these Garminised before Sunday)

100miler (gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_3099493.html)

60miler (gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_3099526.html)

The 100 miler is a fairly lumpy route having 1100m climbing including one requested hill...feel free to speculate, but I'm not saying...

Both routes are on mostly quiet country lanes, however, there are a few places where extra caution should be taken.

1. Roundabout across A45 and following descent into Ringstead (after Raunds) (both routes)
2. Roundabout on the A6003 at Corby (long route)
3. Descent from Seaton to Harringworth (long route)
4. Roundabout across A605 (short route)

The plan for the day is:

Meet at Mkt Square for 8am depart.

Depending on numbers, we will probably set off in two groups a minute or so apart.

The aim is not to go around in one or two large groups, rather I am expecting small groups to naturally form on the road. So look out for people with similar ability and ride with them.

Don't start out with faster riders and hope to be picked up by slower groups later. Go out too fast and you will pay the price later.

There will be no support. Make sure you have enough food, money, drink, tubes to see you around.

We'll have a cafe / lunch stop at the Coffee Tavern, Oundle (about 60miles for long route, 37miles for short route) in. All being well we should have a bit of regrouping there. If needed there are also Cafes in Uppingham.

Mark C will be bringing along a free gel each for anyone who wants them.

Finally if you are planning to ride, please let me know so that we have an idea of numbers.

Cheers

Richard

Good lad Andy, From the emails back so far looks like there should be a good turnout.

If anyone is thinking of doing the 60mile route, please be aware you'll miss an 82m climb, a 100m climb and a 61m climb (but it does average 15%). Maybe not Dragon ride stuff, but I wouldn't want you to come back...disappointed.
