All, please see below link to Garmin Connect version of the introductory ride for this Sunday. It is the same route as we used for the March ride. Ruth and I think the best option is to have three or four routes that are just rotated as necessary.
connect.garmin.com/course/2960497
Also we shall be crossing the A1 at Buckden using the underpass approximately opposite Mayfield, due to the nature of the group I shall be suggesting people dismount for this. On the day if people are still feeling less than confident (or it's been pouring hard and might be flooded) we will look at extending the route to Brampton then Grafham (though this will make the route just under 30 miles).
I'll be riding herd at the back and providing the briefing for new attendees and hopefully will have a couple of volunteers to help navigate, keep the group together and manage the pace.
As ever the aim is 13-14mph average and an introduction to group riding or longer rides. See you 08:30 on Sunday at the Market Square.

Gareth - just a heads up that people wearing road shoes are often reluctant to walk and the ramps leading down to and up from the underpass are relatively steep for descending/climbing in cleats. Of course that doesn't apply to people in MTB shoes/trainers. It's no big deal to ride the underpass being very careful of pedestrians who have right of way. I have never known the underpass to be flooded.
Of course you could always do what I often do and ride the roundabout

That's fine Alec, if I use the underpass I'll be walking it as I can't make it through the barriers the other side and then up the slope. Then again my cleats are a bit harder wearing than normal.
Only mentioned the flooding as someone said they had seen it happen before in heavy rain.

Just a thought but instead of going through the underpass and not doing a longer route via Huntingdon why don't you go via silver street in Buckden.
You then have only a short piece of cycle path that runs next to the A1 then your into Brampton then up to grafham via the Brampton road.
I don't think it will add that much extra mileage.
