not sure when they're likely to be passing our part of the world (they have a checkpoint in St Ives) but a big chapeau to anyone brave / stupid enough to take on something like this

Chris P and I have this on our radar for 2017 (I think that's the next edition after this year) and it wouldn't surprise me if Ian G has already done a previous edition.
I'd say the mix of stupid/brave is around 90/10, but think of all the cake that would have to be consumed!

I think it would great fun, in a "how did I ever think this was a good idea?" kind of way.

If anyone fancies doing Edinburgh-London at a more measured pace, take a look at:
www.ssafa.org.uk/rideofbritain
500 miles in 5 days in aid of the military welfare charity SSAFA.
I'm doing it.

Not done this yet, but helping on it. I am looking to do it 2017 as well as the PBP (see below).
But the premier event at this distance is the Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) at 1200km, sort of audax Tour de France, like the LEL it is held every 4 years next in 2016 and is stricter on the time limit (90hrs max I think).
The only thing about this one you have to qualify for it as it is so popular and to show you can ride the distance.
Biggest I have done so far is 600k a couple of weeks ago.

He lost 1/2 hour getting to the last control due to people altering the signs to the control and over shot it and having to come back.
