It most certainly wasn't - it was warm. Yes warm and sunny!!
A good days ride out and no punctures - joy deep joy
Good route especially the little short track in between the fields - I think this was Sawtry
Thanks to Terry and John for the ride home, great fun

We saw that cut through but decided against it as it looked too agricultural, especially bearing in mind a similar short cut on the long route the previous week that would have more suited a 26" wheel.
I thought I'd cocked up the import into RidewithGPS but i've just checked and the Google van managed to get down there and it all looks rideable.

Just out of curiosity Gary, which part was unrideable? I only want to know just so not to factor it into any future runs.

I'm not sure any was not rideable and looking at the google street view it seemed ok, but for information it was the bit just before Sawtry that turned left and then went into the village. We just went straight on to the roundabout and turned left into Sawtry.
Probably an extra couple of hundred yards.

I'm guessing you mean the sharp left, 2nd part of St. Judith's Lane, this:
www.strava.com/segments/3614135 . You missed a nice little stretch of road, not Bustard Hill smooth I grant you but we've certainly ridden on worse!
FWIW when I'm mapping a route for club runs and there's sections that are too far for my Saturday rides, I'll drive it and make a judgement.
Tony.

That's the one.
TBH we were going so fast at the time we just missed the turn.
just looked at the leaderboard and Joe has been down there before so we have no excuse.
I think someone should put signs out for G1 so we don't get lost next time.

Why doesn't this surprise me? Group 1 missing the turn that is.
Our little group of Alistair, Mark C and Ian almost missed the turn as we were enjoying the descent into Sawtry. Was a nice little section of road.

To be fair, we almost missed it and I'm supposed to know where we're going!
