I would just like to thank everyone involved for helping me complete the course today on my initial first ride.I honestly don't think i could have done it without all the friendly advice, help and encouragement which certainly helped me throughout the course.I apologise sincerely if i hindered or slowed you down on route, but i am sure my stamina will improve with practice.
To think that i more than doubled my distance for a single ride, is in itself an achievement for me and it surpassed all expectations.I will definitely be back for more of the same!
Thanks again to a great bunch of guys.
Barry

Think it was a great ride so well done bazzer and all who rode today. I think if anybody was in any doubt that cycling would balloon on the coat tails of our illustrious boys in the tour
then it might explain the sheer number of cyclists out today.mostly with the st neots contingent.by the way,was it my imagination or was this a big group today? special thanks to mark for bringing me out on my "turf"I should have warned him if i get within 2 miles of biggleswade i'm off like a rat up a drainpipe, and i left my fags at home.Look foreward to the next one. cheers

Barry,
Glad you enjoyed it today and you have nothing to apologise about. By my calculations we averaged just over 18 mph, which is a strong pace for a group 2 ride, so I think it's safe to say that no one was being held up by anyone today.
Looking forward to seeing you out with us again soon.
Best wishes
Steve

Barry, glad you enjoyed the ride, and 18mph is a brisk pace for group 2! It sounds like some of the group 2 guys need to step to group 1 (and I'll promise to avoid making too many route deviations).
Riding home this evening, I have never seen so many people out on bikes around St Neots.

What's the worst that can happen ?

We where nearer 17mph avarage at the rear as we got quite strung out in the last few miles.
I think Alecs idea of a third group may be an idea on a day like that, it could be done dynamicly with someone taking responsibly for either a short cut on the way home or making sure the pace is controlled for newer members.

In retrospect, having the last few miles follow the TT course probably wasn't the best plan.. red rags and bulls?
