The Wiggle Rut was created by Ch3rryGh0st
Is anyone thinking of doing this, or have prior experience of this or other KTG events?

I'm undecided, mainly because I'm not sure whether all that climbing would take a heavy toll on the legs, but I do quite fancy the scenery out that way. Are the climbs around Rutland mostly short, sharp inclines, endless drags, or a perfect storm of both?

Hi, i did the wiggle flat out at the fens in the summer, it was well organised and well marked out route, although their online results were a bit odd, i can only assume people did different routes on the day to those they had entered so their times were put against what they's entered not what they did
eg under 3 1/2 hours for 112 miles?? maybe they did the 64 option.
but even so good day, good goddie bag, and food and massage stands at the finish

I won't be doing this one though have a marathon the weekend after, so best to save my legs

do it, it will be fun B)

Thanks for the info, Ruth. I'm not too worried about KTG's online results. Strong organisation, a clearly-marked route and good food at feed stations are much more important :)

You're probably right about people signing up for the long route, and then opting for the short route on the day. When I did the No Excuses ride back in March, the chap I rode with kept hinting about bailing out of the long route, but in a way that suggested we'd share responsibility for the decision. I'm far too stubborn to admit defeat, so had none of it.

I might sign up for this one...

Rutland is very lumpy and some of the climbs are challenging. It is lovely cycling country though.

However, if you want to do an organised ride up there, Bourne Wheelers run a reliability ride in the Spring. Pretty well organised and for a fraction of the price (entry fee goes to support a cycling club rather than a company). Mark, Steve B and I did it this year, it was a good challenging route and I'll be doing it again in the Spring.
