New member introduction was created by mr_leemur
Have been out on a couple of club runs, going to join in the new year, so thought i'd join in here too.

I'm Jake, and have met quite a number of you already, but it's going to take me forever to learn all your names, my memory sucks!!

Seems so far i've picked two of the best rides as an introduction... Freezing cold and throwing down with rain, and reversed route mix up, it can only got better!!

In case you i've not spoken to you yet, here's my cycling background...

Started riding in France in '96 while i was working over there for a few months, came back and joined my home town club in Spalding, then when i went to uni in Brum joined Royal Sutton, for a couple of years. Used to ride time trials, and the odd road race.

Then i started working and slipped away from the bike, ten years (or so) passed and after a couple of half hearted attempts at starting up again, decided to go for it properly in February this year, put my (badly set up) bike on the turbo, and got a mad case of sciatica, had to take a month off work.

When i got mobile again, got the bike fitted correctly, and have been improving ever since, shed over 8 kilos of body weight, and beeb riding further and further.

My first introduction to the club was the sportive, which was the furthest i'd ridden in a LOT of years, but was a lot of fun, and it seemed like a good club to be s part of.

My main goal at the moment is to beat my previous PB for a 10 mile time trial, which was 23:16 but i think that was in '98 or '99, but think that's going to be quite a stretch (still, if you don't have a dream, how you going to have a dream come true, and yes i saw the damned and captain sensible at the weekend :P )

Also not adverse to a bit of marshalling if i'm not riding or working (and might be able to rope the girlfriend into it too)

Any way, enough rambling, hopefully see you on the road soon!!

Jake

Hi and welcome to our merry band. I'm the one you won't have seen as a broken collar bone seemed like the best excuse I could come up with not to ride out during the winter months

How'd you manage to break yours that many times? Guess blood, sweat and tears really does give you the records/PBs

That said first time off work since I finished full time education 12 years ago, can't be that bad an excuse  (waits for abuse)
