Does anyone have any experience of cycling with a wrist brace?
I've just been diagnosed with early stage arthritis in my right wrist. It's been brought on by a serious fracture I suffered in a motorcycle crash just over 10 years ago.
It's been recommended that I wear a brace or support to help with stability and to keep it warm, but as there's a myriad of such things available, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of cycling with a brace and had any suggestions as to what to look for, or avoid in terms of comfort or ease of operating controls.

Not used on myself but know someone that does. Really depends on the level of support that the wrist requires and some can extend on to the palm of the hand as well restricting movement slightly. This latter style shouldn't be much more restrictive than wearing a pair of thicker gloves.
Hopefully a decent specialist will have a few examples for you to look at/try?
Some seem to have removable supports as well (ribs for want a better description I guess). These might be better as you're then able to remove the "ribs" for cleaning them if it's been a wet/dirty day out there.

I've been looking about and having spoken to the doc and the physio, I don't need anything too serious, no splints required to immobilise, most likely just a neoprene or other thick elastic type to provide a little support and aid stability.
I've picked up a wrap around neoprene one which I'm using when needed for now, but as it uses a loop around the thumb, I can see it's not going to be comfortable on the bike. I'll keep my eyes open and see what I can find.
