As the title says, which mudguards should I buy for Winter? My Trek has mudguard mounts, so I'm looking for proper mudguards rather than the Crud Catcher types.
Without wishing to sound blunt, I know how to use Google, so I'm not looking for links to reviews, but rather actual club members' experiences
Thanks in advance.

Lucky sod Andy, wish I had a road bike with mudguard mounts as I hate riding in the wet without them and I've yet to find anything better than sks raceblades which are still a pain as they always move about and I can't stand the sound of them rubbing on the tyres.
I did however have a hybrid bike with road bike wheels and mudguard mounts that I put sks chromoplastics on and they were very good quality and quite easy to fit. The hardest part is cutting the stays to length but once on they are solid as a rock and should last years. Not really a temporary fitment though, I think they are best left on once fitted.

That's interesting Mark, I've been umming & aahhing about mudguards and most people recommend the raceblades. Like you it would drive me mad hearing the guard rub on the tyre especially as I have fairly limited clearence on my bike.

I've got a set of Crud Roadracer 2s coming so will be able to confirm if they're idiot-proof to fit and then actually work / stay in place.
changing subjects entirely, I wonder what the minimum order for SNCC-branding on these would be?

Could possibly ask Dom at SDJ as I believe he gets them in (unbranded)

Tony one tip if you do get raceblades I have found some small pieces of inner tube where the mudguard meets frame seems too stop them moving as much and also protects the frame. For some reason the front on mine seems to move about more though its just about bearable and that's with 25mm tyres.

Thanks Mark, those were on my list to check out, so it's good to have a real-world view of them.

The Sks ones came with my Kaffenbak. They worked well, although I did think the addition of a flap would make them better.

The ones I had came with a front mudflap and a rear reflector.

I can confirm they are not idiot proof, or at least not for this idiot. I tried to put a pair on my Allez and although the rubbing was low it was still annoying enough. They lasted about 3 rides before they broke.
I've got some fender style ones now that I need to try. Failing that its a new bike with eyelets.
