Agreed Cannock is pretty good and does wear very well. Also there is a nice cut back on the Monkey that enables you to do the final two descents over and over.
For training the North Downs are a honeypot of trails.

So back to the original question . . . . . .is there any interest to set up an MTB section of the club to do some regular club rides together etc?

Phil,
If you want to take the lead and organise a date, time and route, or just field more widely for interest we can send out an email to the membership - not everyone reads the forums - and also post to twitter and facebook.
As an aside, there were a small group of mtb'ers on the Market Square on this Sunday. There used to be a fairly regular group a couple of years ago, so perhaps they're coming back.

As I said I'm happy to show people some of the better trails locally but it would involve hopping in a car first.
I will wait until its drier though, probably Wednesday evenings once it's lighter maybe hooking up with guys I've ridden for a number of years with over Bedford way.
