Summer has been a long time coming this year but forecasters assure us it is finally around the corner.
After one last bout of rain, a heat wave is set to replace the dismal weather after the weekend.
The mercury will soar to 82F (28C) in time for the start of the summer holidays, bringing cheer to school children, parents and tourist resorts alike.
Forecasters predict that although it could be wet today and showery tomorrow, conditions will improve considerably on Sunday and Monday - at least in southern England.
