ID tags was created by BeloB
Following a number of unfortunate incidents recently some of us have been discussing the merits of ID tags.

As a rider who frequently rides solo I have just taken the plunge and, after some research, I have gone for this one: www.roadid.com/p/the-Wrist-ID-Sport If you use this link then for the next few days you'll get $1 off (63p ?)

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this issue.

I wear one on every ride for the same above reason.

If you don't want to spend the money make your own.

The helmet idea falls down when your helmet can't be removed due to neck injuries etc.

Wrist is a logical place to look for contact details in my opinion.

What's the harm?

I have road ID dogtags. Personally I prefer something which cannot be left without me so helmet ideas of membership cards are, for me, good additional ideas rahter than the main solution..

I use a laser etched ID label on a silicon wrist band available from a range at www.theidbandco.com. I too have a phone app. which lists my condition (Type 2 Diabetes) and medication.
I also use "Find My Friend" app on the iPhone so the Missus can find me if I have a tumble/major mech. when riding alone. Don't worry though you can disable it too!!

Find a Friend sounds awful, the whole reason I go out is to hide!!!

After being with an injured club member twice in the last few months, when a paramedic was asking about medical conditions, and have not had the required information, this has also exercised my mind.
Problem with Club membership card (which I always carry with some cash and a Nero card for getting a free coffee) is that, as mentioned, it can be forgotten at home, but also you have to know about it and you need to look for it on the casualties body. Not always easy if they are covered in blood, or lying on the pocket where the card is!
So the mobile phone - and again I have my ICE details in my phone, but as I found out when in the ambulance trying to phone the casualties wife, most phones are locked and you need the casualty to tell you the number to unlock it before you can access ICE!!!
So onto an ID tag or wrist band. Less likely to leave these at home, but it is extra weight (marginal gains and all that) and do I really want to have bits of metal or wrist bands restricting me when it's a beautiful summer's day (whatever one of those is) and I am wearing my lightest cycling gear.
Turning to the helmet - without meaning to upset or affront anyone, but I will never ride without one following a close encounter with a tree (survived) and having seen at least three incidents with the Club occur in front of me when helmets were broken but all three cyclists escaped without serious injury, thus confirming MY decision to wear one, but recognising the right of any individual to be individual and do what suits themselves - I am just about to stick my contact details on the inside of mine, as that seems sensible even if that is also not foolproof.
My conclusion? Not sure, but I will raise this at the Club Committee meeting and I think we should continue to discuss this until we can come up with the best and most sensible solution.

ID tag adding extra weight is probably the funniest thing ive heard all week!

Weigh one and you'll find out.

If worried about suntan then i think we've lost all hope ;-)

Wear what you want at the end of the day if something bad happens you will be counting on others to either have that info or find it. I don't think it's the clubs responsibility via the committee to say what should be done.

Write and article about it and submit it with options is probably the best option
