Due to summer holidays and other events it has been a long time since our last session.
We will now run a youth coaching session on saturday 11th of October at ernulf academy commencing at 09.45
As we are unsure of numbers attending its difficult to predict if any help will be required but I will try to update the forum in due course.

Its really is complicated

something for any of our GoRiders to try and tap into? - I presume you need to be a South Cambs resident, but worth looking at anyway?

Tomorrow sees the recommencement of goride after the summer holidays so good luck to Steve & gareth.
The next six sessions will be road related techniques hopefully encompassing all the core skills already taught in the previous sessions.
We are looking forward to ollie henessy joining us especially after his stellar performance in the clubs sportive and hopefully in the not to distant future we will be joined by Mike Biggs lads.

We ran the first session after the summer break with a total of four riders attending. Ashley, Allanah, Conor and Ollie. Welcome to Ollie who attend his first session and who looked fresh after his 100km ride last Sunday at the St Neots Sportive.
Today’s session was all about riding in close proximity to each other and practising through and off.
In the first part of the session the riders performed the funnel which meant riding in two’s through a gap which got smaller each time they went through. This was to get them used to riding in close proximity to each other and practising their communication.
The second part of the session was on an oval shaped track where the riders practised cycling in two’s around the track but on each of the bends they had to go through a gap which meant communicating with each other and the group did extremely well with this exercise.
The session then changed with the riders practising through and off. The group first rode around the track in single file with the rider on the back coming on the outside with a shout to all other riders “on the outside”.
This worked really well and it was then decided to change to another way of performing “through and off”, to one that is performed in the Velodrome and this incorporated riding in single file around the track with the front rider peeling off to the outside while the group moved on the inside. Obviously shouts of “last person” were to be heard regularly to bring into play the importance of communicating whilst on the move. The pace as you can imagine started to get faster and faster and with a time of 42 secs recorded for the first proper ride around the track the challenge was set for the faster time, which was achieved on the penultimate lap with the group recording a fantastic time of 26 seconds. Excellent effort by all riders.
Rider of the day was given to Ashley for the way she supported Allanah through some of the session and helped her especially when riding in close proximity with each other.
Overall a really good session and don’t forget to spread the word that our next session is on Saturday 25th October at 09:45 at the Ernulf Academy. Thanks to Gareth for helping with coaching the session as well as writing up the session plan and also to Terry.

Stephen ;)

I got to speak to the parents of the lad who impressed us after the session in relation to his evident bike handling skills and it looks like he will be joining us.
Welldone Steve and Gareth on a great coaching delivery.
