Actually (and not just to be contrary with the Devil in Lycra) I find this sort of stuff intriguing and also agree that it can be a good motivator for the person concerned if discussed in the public domain ...

hi there..must try and update my thinking on bike training, but then at 67 years old, "Forget it"...the days of a the plastic bag weight reduction plan,,,(works loose 3/5 kilo in 2 weeks )or the loose fat by riding over 250 miles a week average..now that works..(if you do that you may get to be pro or on the Olympic squad.) but that's if you want to...me just wallowing on with a fixed mind that i may reach an even an older age and still win the bushmead sprint...G

I started cycling at the end of June beginning of July (before that, I'd done no exercise, nor cycled for the better part of 10 years)
Since then I've done:
Distance : 1,237.6km
Time :48hr 37m
Elev Gain: 6,185m
Rides : 33
in September alone
Distance : 302.4km
Time : 14hr 6m
Elevation : 2,366m
Although there's also a few hours of skiing and off-road motorcycling which hasn't been recorded
