2. Pro-Bikes from Contador and Valverde. They also had a specialized from Vinoukorov that I didn't photograph on the Specialized stand that had been sold to a customer. No idea what they paid.
3. Some retro bikes as well for the older riders amongst us who remember Steel and 531, £1500 :
4. The Shimano stand was good and we asked lost of questions around dura-ace. They also had one of the few 9000 Di2 setup's around that you could die with another in a cabinet. Point here guys, if your on the 7900 model, going to 9000 is pretty much a swap out. Looked amazing though.
5. The stars were out too. My mate bent Malcolm Elliott's ear on the Assos stand about gloves (I was at the Pinerallo and Colnago stands looking at bikes costing £9950 and £7500 each) and that is indeed Lord Sugar in the back ground for those eagle eyed amongst you. See the Condor picture, that's Kristian House in the background too. Ed Clancy was around too but didn't get a chance to get a shot as he was each lunch at the time and thought it rude to take a pic.
On a much lighter note. Rob took his 1980 MG up there, roof down all the way which ensured a Bridget Jones moment by the time we got there. On the way back, we parked up at the services next to a very nice Ferrari, had to get a pic.
All in all a great day. Some great new bikes due from Ribble, Condor, Rose, Pinarello, Specialized and Trek on show for next season. The new dura-ace groupset is very, very smooth be it mechanical or electronic. They had Campy too but non that you could test.
Still always amazed on how much Assos clothing costs, £385 for a jacket ...
