As something a little different for your Autumn riding entertainment, the Club has been invited to participate in a cycling event at Great Chishill Windmill.

The windmill is already a popular destination for cyclists as it is located in beautiful countryside, on a hill and surrounded by quiet roads.

The event will be attended by a food wagon provided by Tristian Davis, the owner of Bronte Café of Saffron Walden. Tristian is himself a keen cyclist and will sell hot and cold drinks, cakes, biscuits and other car- enriched goodies to fuel your return journey. Tristian is kindly sharing his profits on the day as a donation to the Great Chishill Windmill Trust.  A Portaloo will be provided and there will be a couple of gazebos should the weather be disappointing so that you can avoid eating soggy cake!!!!

The plan is to welcome the cycling community throughout the morning where cyclists can use the windmill as a destination or a point to break their normal Sunday circuit.

This is the first cycle event hosted by the windmill trust.  The invitation has been extended to over 60 clubs within a radius of 40 miles of the windmill. You can look forward to a well-deserved break, Tristian’s food and, if you wish, hear a little about the windmill, which is one of only two of its type in the UK: A historic monument that is over 200 years old and still standing and in great condition.
