I don't know if I am one of the people that Dan H or Chrisbpr had an issue with, because nothing was said at the time, or back at the coffee shop and again no names are mentioned in the comments to Tony's report.

* waiting for the backlash *

Defiantly not Joe as I wasn't out on that ride.

I have done in the past and would do again ,say if I saw anything that would either spoil people's enjoyment/safety when out on a club ride.

OK OK the problem is that strong group 1 riders for some reason take off with the gr2,,WHY after a few miles and the 1st hill these riders bang off the front spitting the group and from then its chaos..I for one would make it a rule that guys who are Gr1 material ride with Gr1,no point in Wayne./David /Tim et (please just names )et al riding in the slow groups but they do.)I read the reports ).In the old days (YAWN), the captain of the group rode at the front at a steady 18mph..NO ONE dared to pass the captain, riding in 2's sitting in no " gung ho " the club rode without any problems, today if guys are spending up to £5000 on carbon bikes they need to show them off, unfortunately its the lesser riders who suffer and really Bob on his £500 Boardman is not impressed in fact he is P....s off as above.see ys soon, PS hope to get round with Gr1 on the 6th...oh dear Geoff.............

Geoff, the problem isn't Gp1 riders at all. In fact, when we do get the stronger guys helping out on the medium route their behaviour is impeccable, as you'd expect. Personally, I love riding with Dave Lindsay, Wayne, Joe and the rest because I know that's more people in the group that aren't going to play silly buggers.
The problem is people (knowingly or otherwise) not riding as part of the group or letting their egos get the better of them.

Tony.

Evening gang!

I was in the group that stopped with Dan B. Dan H's comment wasn't actually about the pace or discipline of the group (I know this one will go round and round forever) it was actually aimed at the fact that the main group left on a puncture without coming back to tell us what was happening.

No big deal, think it's been blown up a bit.

I can see that the main group probably thought there was 6 of us so we should be able to get back in one piece. However, 2 of the guys were just about to bonk and Wimpole Hill pretty much finished them off!

I pulled them back home and the 3 younger lads rode off together.

If someone had come back to tell us we were splitting, they'd have had the chance to ride back in the safety of the main group and got back in a better state. Also, didn't help I took them back the longer route via Gamlingay and Tetworth Hill ! The rest of us could have smashed ourselves to get back to the group.

Was just unfortunate that it worked out that way. Especially that last 25 miles was into a killer headwind. Felt more like we were dumped at the time. Not blaming anyone or holding any grudges, just one of those things.

Geoff, when you back to get us all into line !!!
