Just got the Edge 800 with trimmings - World debut on Sunday. Might need help finding Cafe Nero!

New Bike, New Garmin - Group 1 material now!!

In that case I'm never upgrading (David Lindsay will be disappointed) ...

Steve,

If you can get a copy of Decembers Cycling Plus, there is an article looking at GPS units and the best options.

I have a Garmin 800. Purchased it new as cheap as possible from Ebay. Searched for the best deal.

So, what do I think?

The GPS functionality is excellent, easy to plan routes, download club routes and most importantly navigate while riding.

The biggest issue is the price, its expensive and I only find myself getting use out of it while on big rides as a *LONEWOLF or navigating when I or the group gets lost. For the majority of the time it is just a nice to know and I use the speed/distance functionality that all the others have.

Cadence = can't be bothered
Heart rate = can't be bothered

So if you can spare the dough and like big rides on your own or always like to know an easy way to get home then this is for you. Otherwise the other Garmins are excellent.

Could always go for a older 705 for much less money.

Bought the 200 a couple of months ago and it's brilliant, you can get it from wiggle for under a one'r with discount codes, like Di2 says unless you're soloing you'll struggle to find a use for the maps, besides i regually draw up routes and follow the basic mapping and find it perfectly adequate.
