Hi Feef, I personally use Creatine and Caffeine quite a lot and have found them both very effective used at the right time . I have now done two 1 month courses of creatine x4 from usn and have found a genuine gain in strength, and retaining lean muscle mass whilst losing bodyweight which sounds good to me !! weight down , power up ha ha.
caffeine however can be a tricky substance to use , i find it to be much more potent if you abstain from caffeine drinks tea/coffee during the week as the body builds up a tolerance to caffeine just like anything else alcahol etc.
To much however can make you feel to nervous / edgey before a race especially a big one that you may be built up for anyway, get it right though and you can acheive a very high level of focus and concentration which is an obvious advantage .
Apart from that a good quality carbohydrate powder mix drink ( only used for hard sessions ) and multi vitamins every day.
Geoff is right though for most training a lot of it is not necessary and i use water / juice and at the end of the day theres no substitute for hard work and consistency and you cant buy that !!
