I know this is unlikely to change anyone's view, but for me BC have it right:
Helmets
British Cycling recommends wearing a correctly fitted helmet for non-competitive riding, whilst recognising the right of each individual to choose whether or not to accept this recommendation and the limit to the protection helmets provide. British Cycling’s ultimate aim is to create a safer cycling environment remembering that the safest places in the world to cycle also have the lowest rates of helmet use.

Hi Eddie and dave I can fix up a broom wagon if you like so if you can't make any of the rides above or below before or after we can pick you up put you in the car and take you to neros and serve you a cup of coffee. It would be an extra charge though ? Or I could ride next to you holding your hand whilst moping your brow ?these are all issues you may want to,put forward to the committee ?

Even though the safest place in the world for cycling hardly wear helmets it will not protect your head if you land on it for any reason, take my experience, a guy on a mountain bike rode across the road without looking whilst wearing earphones I went over the handle bars and landed on the back of my head. So nothing is 100% safe all your are doing is creating a false sense of security with that nonsense.
